Attacking pair Mikey Taylor and Shaquille McDonald should be back sooner rather than later according to Gary Smith.
Both have yet to feature in pre-season so far due to injury.
Shaquille McDonald has been named on the bench for the past two friendlies – but joint manager Gary Smith admits they didn’t want to risk aggravating his injury further.
Striker Mikey Taylor re-signed for the Lambs last month and could be back for the visit of Wrexham this Saturday.
“They’re both not far away,” Smith said.
“We named Shaq on the bench today and we possibly could have put him on.
“But I had a word with the medical staff and we thought ‘do we really need to?’ because we have enough players in and around the squad we can utilise instead of taking that risk where he goes and gets injured and then is out for another four weeks.
“Another rest for [Shaq] and another training session and hopefully he should be ok to get some minutes on Saturday.
“Mikey Taylor is not too far away, he should be back into training on Thursday with a view to possibly getting some minutes in the next few games,” Smith told Lambs Media.
