Smith: Halesowen workout was just the test Tamworth needed

Tamworth will benefit hugely from last night’s draw with Halesowen Town as they look to step up in levels during the remainder of pre-season.

That’s the view of the Lambs’ joint-boss Gary Smith who reckons the Yeltz gave his side their biggest test of pre-season so far.

Tamworth fell behind courtesy of a Harry White goal before Henri Wilder levelled things up in the second half.

“It was a brilliant workout,” Smith said.

“Credit to Halesowen, they’ve got a fantastic side that is definitely too good for their level. They gave us a real good test today and that was what we needed.

“We haven’t really had all our bodies together to put them out on the pitch in the previous games but today we were able to field what we consider to be a strong side.

“I thought the boys adapted well to the formation change and they’ve had to work really hard.

“We’ll build on this and take it into training on Thursday night and look to do a bit more on Saturday against Wrexham.”
