Andrew Danylyszyn says the pandemic had a say in the reason why Tom Tonks has left Tamworth.
The popular midfielder was expected to stay at The Lamb for the coming season but has instead signed for Northern Premier League club Stafford Rangers.
Tonks had also been playing for Walsall Wood most recently during their run to the FA Vase semi-final.
And now he’s sorted where he’ll be for next season, Danylyszyn admits it’s a shame he won’t be a Tamworth player for the coming campaign.
“Tom Tonks didn’t want to leave, he told me that,” Danylyszyn said.
“But he said his situation had changed and the pandemic has affected his house because he lost his daytime job.
“The pandemic has had a massive impact on people’s lives. We have lost a real character in the changing room. We’ve brought in good replacements, but it is a shame we’ve lost such a character and a good person as well.
“I completely understand why he’s gone. It’s not a case of chasing money it’s a case of looking after the important things in life – you can’t be upset with someone for that.”
Tonks took to his Twitter account to wish Tamworth well.
