Ryan Beswick is hoping Tamworth will be able to finally mount an uninterrupted title push in the coming season.
The Lambs’ captain has made himself a fan favourite in the past three seasons as the club looked to be on course to regain their National League North place.
With a date in the diary for the new season, Beswick admits it’s been a tough wait – but it’ll be worth it when football returns.
“It’s been a long tough year for everybody,” Beswick said.
“But hopefully now we are out the other side of it and can look forward to life getting back to normality which has been a big miss.
“I can’t wait to get back playing, like everybody involved in football it’s been a big part of our lives so it’s been a huge miss.
“When we can finally return to playing it’ll be a huge relief.”
Tamworth were well on their way to the title in the first disrupted season.
A slow start in the last campaign had fans wondering if it would be their year, but with a second halt in as many years, the Lambs would never find out.
“It was really tough to take in the first season when there was no promotion at the end of all our hard work,” Beswick added.
“We had to get over it and go again. We started slowly but we were definitely heading in the right direction to another title charge but we didn’t get chance to have a proper crack at it.
“It was disappointing for all of us but public health is more important.
“Hopefully, all being well, we can have another go at it this season – I’m just glad my goals still count for the seasons that were ended!”
The question on every fans lips is simple. Will Ryan Beswick be a Tamworth player next season?
“Talks are still ongoing between the club and us as players,” he said.
“But hopefully soon we can have some form of answers on what’s going to be happening next season.
“Obviously it’s been hard for clubs through this pandemic so I think that the process may take a little longer than usual.”
