SJR Worksop are on the look out for fresh new talent to join their thriving Development Squad.
Since turning semi-professional two years ago, first team boss Andrew Guest has been keen to recruit new players from the town.
With a proven pathway to the first team in place, youngsters like Jaden Thackery, Luke Morris, Ryan Parker and Max Sykes have all already made the step-up.
And with Danny Scott’s SJR Development Squad still in league action, the club are hosting trials as they look to add further players to their ranks.
“We’re encouraging any footballers between 16 and 18 to get in touch with us for a trial, with a view to linking up with our Development Squad,” Guest said.
“Since we started, we have shown there is a genuine pathway for local lads to get playing senior football and show what they are all about.
“I’ve said it time and time again, as long as I am running this club, we will only ever use local lads. We’re not suddenly going to flood the team with players from out of town – it’s just not what we’re about.
“Of course, winning is a good feeling. But we will never sacrifice our roots to chase success. The priority is giving hungry local lads a platform, whether that be with us or with someone else down the line.”
Guest added: “If you’re a local player, maybe at a bit of a loose end, and want to be given a chance to prove yourself then please get in touch.”
Trials can be arranged by contacting SJR Worksop – either through their Facebook page, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, or calling Andrew Guest on 07854 599043
