The Southern League season could be delayed until as late as next year according to some club officials, but the FA Trophy will probably go ahead as planned.
Southern League, Northern Premier League and Isthmian League clubs met with league officials on Tuesday night via Zoom to discuss the current season.
Following the call, Jon Dunham, sports reporter at the Northants Telegraph, has revealed details of discussions with Corby Town and AFC Rushden & Diamonds.
And fans are set for a further wait for some action.
“It was pretty unanimous that those who are in Tier 3 and can’t have fans at their games are at a massive disadvantage,” Diamonds vice-chairman told the Northants Telegraph.
“The next review is on December 16 and we will see where the land lies. The Southern League have said it’s an additional temporary pause and it will be reviewed frequently.
“It would be unfair for us to suggest that the league starts when there are clubs in Tier 3.”
An announcement on the outcome of voting is expected to come on Thursday.
