Oxford City manager David Oldfield had some positive words for Tamworth after they suffered a 6-1 FA Cup defeat at the hands of the Hoops on Tuesday night.
It was a tough night for the Lambs at the Velocity Stadium – Jaanai Gordon scoring the away sides only goal to provide something for the locked out fans to cheer.
But City boss Oldfield, who made one appearance for the Lambs as a player in 2007, said supporters shouldn’t read too much into the score line.
“Tamworth played really well,” he told Oxford City’s media team after the game.
“I don’t think they deserved it to be six. They were competitive and strong – really good attitude and worked really hard. I think we can feel fortunate that it’s ended up that way.
“It was disappointing to concede the goal but I don’t think it was a 6-1 game, I think Tamworth deserved more,” he continued.
“They worked really hard. I’d seen them play previously, we had someone who went to do a report on them.
