Gary Smith says he is pleased for Dan Creaney as the striker cemented his place in the Tamworth squad after his recent goal glut.
Creaney missed out on Saturday against Redditch with an ankle injury but has been bang in-form for the Lambs in recent weeks – scoring six in his eight outings since January 4.
A former striker and Lambs legend himself, Smith is happy to see the front man hitting the target again after a tough spell.
“Dan’s fantastic at what he does for us,” Smith said. “We don’t have another player in our squad that is capable of doing what Dan Creaney does.
“As a former striker myself, I know that when you’re not hitting the target and you’re missing chances, it plays on your mind and then you’re hearing stuff on the side and in the media. It can have an affect on you.
“It can go both ways, it can make you come out and be a world beater but it can also play on your mind and it doesn’t work out for you.
“But Dan’s just got his head down and done the things that we’ve asked him to do and he’s got his reward, so I’m pleased for him.”
